| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Over 20 million Americans are gluten intolerant, and most don't even know it.
In the world of science and medicine, it is widely known that wheat is the primary cause of celiac disease, a debilitating chronic inflammatory disease affecting the intestine. What is not so widely known is that gluten sensitivity runs a spectrum - only the worst cases becoming celiac disease.
The "grain of pain" is a contributing factor in many illnesses, including autoimmune disease, arthritis, autism, ADHD, bipolar disorder, diabetes, cancer, fibromyalgia and more. If you or someone you love is not feeling well or suffers from chronic pain or disease, you owe it to them and yourself to read this book.
Dr. Alexander Shikhman has been solving tough medical issues for his patients for years. For many who are genetically predisposed to gluten sensitivity, a gluten-free diet can bring miraculous relief. Although a challenging lifestyle for some, many lives can transform when gluten is eliminated from the diet.
In this book you will meet some people who got their life back by giving up gluten. You will also be armed with the knowledge to determine if gluten might be affecting you or your loved ones. If you decide to try a gluten-free lifestyle, this book also provides a guide to getting started with your new life.

| Customer Reviews: Amazing Personal Application January 27, 2010 K. Shustek (San Diego, Ca, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a health care professional and someone who closely evaluates what I consume, I found this book amazingly helpful. Gluten Nation's insight into how gluten consumption can drastically effect your body's crucial functions opened my eyes to an aspect of nutrition I was completely unaware of. Additionally, unlike most health and nutrition books, Gluten Nation portrays several personal stories that do a great job of connecting gluten intolerance to the human condition and identify real life struggles that many readers may identify with.
A Great Read! December 24, 2009 Janie (San Juan Capistrano, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Gluten Nation is superb! Once I started reading it, I didn't want to put it down. I wish I would have purchased more than 2 copies, as I have so many people in my life that could greatly benefit from this powerful body of work. Interestingly, when I was reading it on the plane, several people commented that they too suffer from gluten intolerance. It is so common and sadly most of us do not even know that our health problems could be greatly alleviated by utilizing the wisdom in this book. I so hope this becomes a best seller so that more people can live more healthy and fulfilling lives. Thank you for writing such an informative and helpful book that is also a great read and a great service to us all!
Newly diagnosed December 6, 2009 yanee (california) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am gluten sensitive and only recently found out. Gluten Nation really helped me understand how gluten can be the cause of many unexplained illnesses. So little is understood about this hidden underlying factor that is compromising the health of so many people. For the first time, I understand the science behind many of my issues. This is a must read for anyone who suffers from persistent aches and pains or otherwise believes gluten might be standing in the way of their wellness program.
Gluten Nation - Much-Needed Help for Solving Widespread Health Problems December 6, 2009 David Lemberg (San Diego, CA United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Gluten is everywhere, not only in breads, cakes, and cookies, but also in canned soups, prepared meats and cheeses, household products, and many pharmaceutical preparations. Oddly, humans cannot digest gluten. This inability creates a potential problem.
Gluten intolerance and celiac disease affect children, teenagers, and adults. Symptoms may begin at age 2 or not until age 60 or later. Importantly, gluten intolerance and celiac disease may be important predisposing and underlying conditions to many complex and chronic diseases. Any person who has spent months and years trying to find effective treatment for painful and debilitating symptoms may actually be gluten intolerant and/or have celiac disease.
Gluten Nation is a very welcome port in the storm of undiagnosed and misunderstood conditions and diseases. The book covers all aspects of gluten intolerance, celiac disease, and related conditions such as autism, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and infertility. Gluten Nation provides valuable information on all these relationships and provides important methods to begin solving difficult these medical problems.
Gluten Nation helps people navigate the medical system, describing what to look for in a doctor and how you can empower the doctor-patient relationship. The book provides detailed information and instructions on how to set-up a gluten-free lifestyle, and includes many delicious and healthful recipes to help you begin your journey back to being well.
Possibly the best part of Gluten Nation is the personal stories that open each chapter, stories that will warm your heart, possibly bring a tear to your eye, and inspire you to take action on your own behalf and on behalf of your family and loved ones.
